Scottish artist Jacqueline Donachie will present a new work
at ink, Copenhagen. The installation piece called "Proposal for
a sail in Bristol" is a dream trip from Nova Scotia to Louisiana,
an imaginary lazy travel down the Mississipi (and other rivers),
but actually happening on the docks of Bristol.
The exhibition has been realised as a collaboration between ink
and NIFCA (Nordic Institute for Contemporary Art) as a part of the
Network North project. Network North is an initiative by the Nordic
Council of Ministers to extend and consolidate cultural links between
the Nordic region, the UK and Ireland across the fields of film,
literature, music and visual art. For more information see: www.nifca.org/network
north.
Jacqueline Donachie (born 1969) is a well established Scottish
artist, who has exhibited worldwide throughout the 1990s. Her body
of work includes installations, sound pieces, books, and often several
elements are combined. Her works can be characterised as dreamy,
atmospheric installations, that establishes a certain mood for the
person who enters the space. The dreamlike quality of her work is
combined with down-to-earth reality, which makes it seem like a
kind of poetic realism. At the moment she holds a residency at IASPIS,
Stockholm.
