MELLEMDÆKKET - a new space for solo-exhibitions in Charlottenborg
Exhibition Hall. As an innovation and initially for a period of
2 years, the board of Charlottenborg Exhibition Hall has decided
to reserve Mellemdækket - the building's mezzanine floor - for solo-exhibitions
by Danish and foreign artists. The exhibitions will be spread over
the year and will be initiated with a series of exhibitions arranged
by younger Danish artists-cum-curators.
The free-lance curator Jacob Fabricius is the first, having
invited the following artists:
31 May - 4 August The German artist Kirsten Pieroth, b. 1970.
www.klosterfelde.de
9 August - 6 October The Danish artist Henriette Heise, b.
1966. www.copenhagenfreeuniversity.dk
& www.infopool.org.uk
11 October - 8 December The German artist Stephan Dillemuth,
b. 1954. www.societyofcontrol.com
Each exhibition will be accompanied by a text, edited by the curator.
To quote from Jacob Fabricius' presentation of Kirsten Pieroth:
"Kirsten Pieroth works with objects which normally belong to domestic
spheres. Daily-life objects classified through their form, function
or cultural identity are removed from their original context and
analysed in comparison to other objects - or to themselves. As basis
for her work Kirsten Pieroth compares opposite or common characteristics
leading to unusual connections and com-binations. Even when the
external form is occasionally altered the typical identifying marks
of the object remain and the spectator's corresponding connotations
prevent a final categorisation of the various sign-ifications …
Summing up, the works of Kirsten Pieroth put the interrelations
of thought and object and the very process of vision into question."

MELLEMDÆKKET will be open to the public every day, 10am - 5 pm,
irrespective of temporary closures in the main exhibtion hall, in
which case entry is free of charge.
