“still in motion” is a videoinstallation consisting of three looped
sequences, which are projected onto the walls and depict a building
open to the public. Temporary walls are being installed in the gallery
space, and therefore only one video can be seen at the time.
The first sequence consists of a revolving door, and gives the spectator
the opportunity to enter. Second sequence depicts a reception desk
with two employees. They are motionless, and the only movement comes
from two huge plants waving in the wind. In the third sequence a
woman apparently sticks to the ceiling by some current of air, while
water flows down the wall into a decorative pool.
Incidental music is written for the exhibition, that in a monotonous,
progressive tempo, makes it a time unit. A monotony that makes the
music move as little as the images in the videos.
The way Domke grips the subject matter makes it non-documentary
- our expectations to the behaviour of reality is not being redeemed.
Movement and standstill both challenges each other and swop places.
Exterior turns to interior. Down turns to up.
Perhaps.
