Annoncer: | [09. februar 2010] Billedreportage ![]() Sigmar Polke: Works from a decade at Galleri Bo Bjerggaard Sigmar Polke - Galleri Bo BjerggaardIn the last ten years the Danish and Nordic audience have on more than one occasion had the opportunity to get acquainted with the famous, German post-war artist, Sigmar Polke, at Galleri Bo Bjerggaard. For the new exhibition, the gallery has brought together a wide range of works from this period, hereby displaying the both enigmatic and luminous works on a larger scale than previously. As an artist Sigmar Polke is difficult to define. Since the early 1960s he has experimented with a wide range of styles and subject matter, bringing together imagery from contradictory or unexpected sources, both historical and contemporary, and using a variety of different materials and techniques. Nevertheless, abstract, cosmic forms, a sharp attention to light and matter, and a humorous play with the idea of a picture characterizes most of his works, which is also demonstrated in this fine selection currently on show. Sigmar Polke was born in 1941 in East Germany and studied art at Düsseldorf Art Academy. In 1963 he founded "KapitalistischenRealismus", a painting movement with Gerhard Richter and Konrad Lueg, and he has been awarded several times for his artistic achievements. His works has been exhibited all over the world, and the last big presentation of works in Denmark was at Louisiana in 2001.
