David Shrigley - Malmö Konsthall

Around 600 works by the Scottish artist David Shrigley are at the moment presented at Malmö Konsthall. It's the first retrospective solo exhibition in Northern Europe by Shrigley. Beside drawings the exhibition is a cacaphoni of sculpture, monotype, inkjet prints, photographs, books, and you name it!
Shrigley comments on the world, and life in general, with a nihilistic wit, word games and interrogations leaving us to question ourself and the world around us. In that manner it's an invitation to open your eyes - it can be very amusing and quite educational. Shrigley is not pointing any fingers, instead he leaves it to the individual viewer to ponder upon the obvious, the absurd, and the sometimes bizarre nature of existance itself.
Both kopenhagen reporters were very, very, very etc. exited before arriving at the Konsthall, and left the exibition with all expectations forfilled. It is rare to have such an art-experience. A unison between the visitors - smiling, giggling, and apparantly enjoying themself - arose proving that humour can bring people together in spite of differences. Great!!!
