Carnegie Art Award 2010

Carnegie Art Award 2010 viser det bedste indenfor nordisk samtidskunst lige nu.

23 kunstnere tolker maleriet i bredeste forstand og viser alt fra olie på lærred, film, fotografi, skulptur, installation til performance. Alle værker er skabt indenfor de seneste to år og udgør en omfattende præsentation af den nutidige kunstscene - både når det gælder udtryk og indhold. Carnegie Art Award er en af verdens største kunstpriser og har siden starten i 1998 arbejdet for at støtte kunstnere i Norden og fremme maleriet i samtidskunsten. H.M. Dronning Margrethe overrakte priserne og indviede samtidig den halvandet år lange turné for Carnegie Art Award 2010 i de nordiske hovedstæder samt London, Nice og Beijing. Der bliver også produceret en bog, der præsenterer de deltagende kunstnere og deres værker. Årets pristagere En enstemmig jury har tildelt den islandske kunstner Kristján Gudmundsson (f. 1941) førstepladsen på 1 million svenske kroner for sine exceptionelle lydabsorberende malerier, i hvilke han på karakteristisk vis sammensmelter materiale og idé til objekter mættede med indhold.

Andenpladsen på 600 000 svenske kroner går til den svenske kunstner Kristina Jansson (f. 1967). Med forføreriske, særprægede og psykologisk ladede malerier stiller hun spørgsmål omkring hukommelse, perception og arkitekturens rum.

Svenske Felix Gmelin (f. 1962), tildeles tredjepladsen på 400 000 svenske kroner. Hans installation ambiguous gestures er en mangesidet kommentar til såvel en personlig historie som til 60ernes wieneraktionisme, hvor kroppen ofte agerede som erstatning for lærredet.

Danske Marie Søndergaard Lolk (f. 1981) tildeles stipendiet til en yngre kunstner på 100 000 svenske kroner. Med sine komplekse værker opbygget af utallige lag af farver udforsker hun maleriets materialitet.
